Role Of Vastu
Vastu Shastra is a science that harmonizes the relationship between human life and nature. It considers the balance of the five basic elements, the eight cardinal directions, the Earth’s electromagnetic and gravitational forces, and the cosmic energy from planets and the atmosphere, all of which influence human life. This traditional Hindu system of architecture is increasingly integrated by top architects in India to create spaces that embody its principles and values.
Vastu Shastra is grounded in natural directions, sub-directions, geographic conditions, the Earth’s magnetic forces, solar radiation, and the universal cosmic rays from planets within our solar system, along with the five natural elements. In terms of design, it encompasses layout, measurements, ground preparation, space arrangement, and geometry—elements that are also fundamental to modern architecture. Today, the leading architects in Mumbai use these principles to design spaces that are balanced and positive.
All materials, regardless of their size, shape, color, or physical and chemical properties, originate from one of the Panchbhootas (five elements). Each material possesses a unique vibration level that often escapes human perception.
A key consideration in Vastu Shastra is the Earth’s magnetic field, which significantly influences human life. The human body itself acts like a magnet, with the head functioning as the North Pole. Sleeping with the head facing north can cause the North Poles of both the body and Earth to repel each other, disrupting blood circulation and leading to disturbed sleep, tension, and other issues. Therefore, Vastu experts advise against sleeping with the head facing north. This principle is also applied by top interior designers in India.
Scientific Foundations of Vastu Shastra:
- Law of energy conservation
- Human body
- Food chain
- Water cycle
- Interactions of the five elements
- Spectrophotometric analysis of sunlight
- Inclination of the Earth’s North-South axis
- Simple Harmonic Motion
